Codescent Theory I: Foundations
Consider a cofibrantly generated model category S, a small category C and a subcategory D of C. We endow the category S C of functors from C to S with a model structure, defining weak equivalences and fibrations ob-jectwise but only on D. Our first concern is the effect of moving C, D and S. The main notion introduced here is the " D-codescent " property for objects in S C. Our long-term progra...
متن کاملCodescent Theory Ii : Cofibrant Approximations
We establish a general method to produce cofibrant approximations in the model category US(C,D) of S-valued C-indexed diagrams with D-weak equivalences and D-fibrations. We also present explicit examples of such approximations. Here, S is an arbitrary cofibrantly generated simplicial model category and D ⊂ C are small categories. An application to the notion of homotopy colimit is presented.
متن کاملConformal Tilings I: Foundations, Theory, and Practice
This paper opens a new chapter in the study of planar tilings by introducing conformal tilings. These are similar to traditional tilings in that they realize abstract patterns of combinatorial polygons as concrete patterns of geometric shapes, the tiles. In the conformal case, however, these geometric tiles carry prescribed conformal rather than prescribed euclidean structure. The authors devel...
متن کاملRelative p-adic Hodge theory, I: Foundations
We initiate a new approach to relative p-adic Hodge theory based on systematic use of Witt vector constructions and nonarchimedean analytic geometry in the style of Berkovich. In this paper, we give a thorough development of φ-modules over a relative Robba ring associated to a perfect Banach ring of characteristic p, including the relationship between these objects and étale Zp-local systems an...
متن کاملGeometric Control Theory I: Mathematical Foundations *
A geometric setup for control theory is presented. The argument is developed through the study of the extremals of action functionals defined on piecewise differentiable curves, in the presence of differentiable non–holonomic constraints. Special emphasis is put on the tensorial aspects of the theory. To start with, the kinematical foundations, culminating in the so called variational equation,...
